Setting up your Bolt Bin
To ensure your Bolt Bin is placed safely and efficiently, please follow these simple guidelines:
Distance from the kerb or driveway
Your Bolt Bin should be placed no more than 3 metres from the kerb or driveway to allow for easy access. This ensures our team can deliver and pick up the bin quickly and without obstruction.
Distance from Power lines or Trees
If you're placing your Bolt Bin under power lines or near trees, make sure there is at least 4 metres of clearance from the ground to the lowest wire or branch. This ensures safe delivery and pickup, avoiding any potential hazards.
Placing Bolt Bin behind a Fence or Gate
If you’re placing your Bolt Bin behind a fence or gate, make sure the fence is no taller than 1 metre. This allows for easy delivery and pickup of the bin. We need clear access to safely place and collect the bin.
Driveway Requirements
For Bolt Bin placement on your driveway, your driveway must be at least 2.5 metres wide and have at least 3 metres of height clearance. This ensures our truck can easily deliver and collect your bin without any obstacles.

Using your Bolt Bin
1. Unpack the Bin
Your Bolt Bin will arrive at your door. Unpack and lay flat on the ground. Keep the paper instructions as a reference.
2. Choose the Right Spot
Refer to the guidelines from the previous section to find the perfect location for your Bolt Bin. Ensure it’s placed no more than 3 metres from the kerb or driveway, and that it’s clear of power lines, trees, fences, and gates (no taller than 1 metre). Also, make sure your driveway has at least 2.5 metres wide and 3 metres of height clearance.
3. Unfold the Bin
Unfold your Bolt Bin and roll down the rim halfway to help it hold its shape. For extra stability, put heavier items in the corners as you fill it.
4. Start Filling
Start filling your Bolt Bin with waste. Whether it’s garden waste, household junk, or more, our bins are built to handle it all. Just keep the bin level and avoid overfilling. Need to know what to avoid or what can go inside? Check out the next step!

Filling your Bolt Bin
1. Please avoid hazardous items
No hazardous materials or chemicals
No asbestos or toxic waste
A full list of restricted items can be found in our Terms & Conditions
If you're ever unsure about what can go inside, check our guidelines or get in touch!
2. Weight Limits
We understand that knowing the exact weight of your bin can be unrealistic. That’s why, unlike other companies, we never charge extra for weight above a threshold. However, we do have an Intentional Misuse Policy to ensure safe handling.
3. Intentional overloading policy
These weight limits are based on hundreds of orders, and we have never (and never will) charge customer for overweight charges. For general and household waste, these limits are generous enough that you don’t have to worry about weight. However, when disposing of concrete or soil, it’s easy to exceed these limits. To avoid this, we recommend you don’t fill more than 1/3 of the bag height with heavy materials like concrete or soil.
4. Weight limit guidelines
Our soft weight limits are:
200kg
400kg
600kg
for 1, 2, and 3 metre bags respectively.
As per our Intentional Misuse Policy, our drivers reserve the right to refuse pickup if your Bolt Bin exceeds these weight limits or contains prohibited items.
If you're unsure about what can go inside, check our guidelines or get in touch!
